Dawn Of War Soulstorm Space Wolves Mod
The Space Wolves mod is a modification for Dawn of War: Soulstorm that adds the space wolves chapter as an in-game playable race. This mod does not change the original gameplay style of Soulstorm. The Space Wolves, known in their own dialect of Juvjk as the Vlyka Fenryka or 'Wolves of Fenris,' are one of the original 20 First Founding Space Marine Legions, and were once led by their famed Primarch, Leman Russ. Warhammer 40,000: Dawn of War - Soulstorm. Best mod for Soulstorm? It's kind of focused in terms of what it does (mostly Chaos, with some Space Marine and Imperial Guard stuff, and a tiny bit of other things, as well as Inquisition (borrowed from another mod)), but what it does, it does quite well.
Space Marines
Another army separated from the Empire. Regular army, full of advanced technologies and heavy armor units. The Space Marines is a strong universal army, thanks to their powerful infantry.
Brother-Captain Indrick Boreale - Main commander of space marines. Good morale and HP, strong in melee combat. Supports morale of friendly formations around Him. Useful special ability. |
Scout Marine Squad - light infantry dedicated to scouting and capturing control/strategic points. They are too weak for use in combat. The amount of squad members ranges from 2 to 4. Possible upgrades for armor, damage and invisibility. You can add these special weapons to them: - Flamer, good against enemy morale - Plasma gun, strong against heavy infantry - Sniper rifle, a perfect weapon for scout squad. Strong against enemy infantry and morale. |
Space Marine Squad - standard heavy infantry. Universal destination, with upgrades and chosen weapons they may be strong against everything. Squad members range from 4 to 9 marines. Possible upgrades of armor, weapons. You can add special weapons like: - Flamer, strong against enemy morale. - Heavy bolter, strong against enemy infantry. - Missile launcher, strong against enemy vehicles and buildings. |
Space Marine Assault Squad - good melee damage and very good protection (HP and AP). This is a typical assault squad dedicated for close combat. Possible damage upgrades. Squad members range from 4 to 9 solders. Equipped with jet packs, which enables them to fly a short distance over obstacles on the battlefield. |
Grey Knights - special formation with destination for close combat. Very good defense and quite good damage. Useful special ability. This formation should fight in the first line in every offensive. Squad members range from 4 to 6 knights. |
Land Speeder Tempest - flying unit, strong against enemy infantry. |
Rhino Transport - APC, useless in both single - and multiplayer. |
Dreadnought - assault Mech-Warrior, strong against enemy structures and vehicles. Possible weapon upgrades. |
HellFire Dreadnought - anti-infantry Mech-Warrior unit. Very good for supporting fighting units in the first line of battle. |
Chaplain - secondary commander. Very good melee damage and useful special ability. Can be attached to squads. |
Terminator Squad - ultra heavy infantry formation. Destination - long distance fighting, fire support troops. Can be equipped with teleports. Can be armed with special weapons like: - Heavy flamer, more damage than typical flamer and strong against enemy morale. - Assault cannon, strong against enemy heavy infantry units. |
Assault Terminator Squad - terminators dedicated to melee combat only. |
Apothecary - a medic. Attached to infantry squads he can cause a faster regeneration speed. |

Dawn of War 3 is really good initially I hated it.
Too many things were different when I was needing a new DAWN OF WAR SOULSTORM but with a Campaign more like DARK CRUSADE.
Dawn of War 3 is very very good. The factions perform great and they have many unique things to them. While still keeping enough equal that a good balance is struck.
I would say tho that The Space Marine Orbital barrage and Orbital Lazar tho is a bit over the top.Coupled with the fact that Assault Squads aka Jetpack PowerSwords are also a bit too strong and useful.
I would also say that why micro mangy Eldar can effectively build forward bases and then retreat them under duress.and I would also that that someone with really good micro can effectively half the cost of late game losses in resources threw the use of soulstones. on top of this the eldar get shields which if used effectively can allow about half of normal unit losses to be prevented.
I think Orkz without these 2 things would be slightly better then Eldar or Space Marines especially in the later stages of the game. Orkz when played Defensive mid early are fairly effective but I would say they do not quite have enough to deal with the other 2 factions but one can still use the Orkz to out play the other factions.
They are mostly balanced but their could have been more factions.
Their really wasn't all that much wrong with the game.
Their were lots of things that did take time to get use too also which was allot of the outrage against the game by the sheep that feel offended for others. I will go over what should have not been the case and what was pretty alien to DOW but not really negative things.
--------
The things that should not have been were the fact that Elites have a unique resource that must be purchased and fought for to acquire elites and then after that elites effectively are free with respawns.
Their should have been Leader Elite such as Gorgutz, Masha, and Gabriel which you can have one of and start the match with and they should have been a balance between them in this aspect for early and late game.
The Leaders could be free and have a re spawn timer.
The other 2 elites should have had a regular cost like any other unit and been acquired like you would that unit but with a cost that defines them as an elite with stats of an upgraded version of that unit with their current elite personality.
The orbital drops while very immersive and nice are allot to deal with and might be very well balanced but one thing that is not balanced is that Orbital Lazar the space marines get that effectively can delete and entire army in a matter of a few seconds.
Need for speed. Turrets should not have a unit supply cost but instead should have a higher base resource costs and only be allowed to be build inside the radius of a building or resource point so they can defend points or locations but not be spam able or cheesy but still feel good and not cost unit supply and they should also not be tied to a doctrine and instead that doctrine should be replaced with something that allows you to refund those turrets at full cost but also that they perform 5% better.
Their should have or could have been more factions.
Dawn Of War Soulstorm Ultimate Apocalypse
Sounds at launch and beta release were also slightly bugged especially in the beta release and you can still understand how bugged the sound was by going into the bench mark test and listening to what that sounds like.
-------
Things that were very alien but not bad just takes time to get use too was the fact that Ork buildings have no many moving parts lots of moving parts which is not bad but its so alien also the fact that Orkz rely on scrap and they have a slight mad max vibe going on with them in the beginning you think wtf is this? but you understand that its a nice change after you play and get familiar with it.
The Campaigns were lineal and story driven I would have much preferred the sandbox approach of The Dark Crusade campaign where its procedural and every place has a story and maby that story can be altered with slightly altered dialog based upon the choices and outcomes of battles with the real potential to loose the campaign and be pushed off the map if its not set on easy.
-------
The game is good really good and deserves another chance it really does.
Most people who play the game and take the time to get familiar with it will end up really enjoying the multiplayer/skirmish.
It would definitely be worth it for the game to reach a very healthy state to were more factions could be financially supported into creation.
Even a new DLC procedural campaign inspired by The Dark Crusade would be great.
